New Podcast “On the Road to Your Heart” Explores Love and Connection

There’s a moment when a conversation becomes more than an exchange of words—when it becomes a turning point. For Sheryl Aronson, LMFT, and Dr. Michael Berlin, that moment has turned into a podcast.

On the Road to Your Heart is not just a clever title. It’s the continuation of a creative and emotional journey that began when Aronson, a longtime therapist and award-winning arts journalist, released a song by the same name—a musical expression born of healing and reflection. That release has now evolved into something far more layered: a podcast that invites couples, individuals, and anyone navigating relationships to examine the deeper terrain of connection, language, and self-worth.

The two co-hosts—who have been close friends for over forty years—bring both clinical insight and personal authenticity to the table. Aronson’s decades of couples therapy intersect seamlessly with Berlin’s unique background in psychology, education, and Hollywood storytelling. Together, they form a partnership that feels less like a podcast and more like a guided passage through the complexities of human intimacy.

At a time when psychology-themed podcasts dominate digital spaces, On the Road to Your Heart offers something distinct: a deeply creative lens. What begins as conversation extends into a multi-dimensional experience, with plans already underway to transform the podcast into a stage production. The show will weave together spoken word, live music, and narrative storytelling—creating a vehicle for emotional resonance that reaches far beyond earbuds and algorithms.

“This isn’t just about how to be in a relationship,” Aronson says. “It’s about the relationship you have with yourself—and how that forms the way you connect with others. We’re exploring love from the inside out.”

Berlin agrees. “Being an advocate for ‘the couple’ is crucial,” he says. “There are so many forces pulling people apart. What we’re trying to do is give people tools to stay open—to stay present for themselves and their partners.”

Their debut episode, “What Is Your Book of Love?,” delves into how childhood experience, culture, and emotional conditioning shape the ways we understand and express love. Through grounded dialogue, the two hosts unpack what it means to find emotional common ground, especially when partners seem to be speaking different dialects of the same emotional language.

“If you don’t feel internal love—including strength and kindness—you cannot put that out in the world,” Berlin shares in the episode. “And if it’s not present, you can’t be in a successful relationship. That to me is the beginning of the climb.”

This first installment also features Aronson reflecting on the essential value of self-awareness: “The most important relationship is the one you have with self. If I don’t know who I am, what I want, where my wounds are—how can I show up authentically for a partner?”

The podcast is rich with these moments—unguarded, thoughtful, and brave. It doesn’t promise easy answers. Instead, it offers context, companionship, and the reminder that transformation is possible when we begin to tell the truth—first to ourselves, then to each other.

The project is a collaborative effort. Aronson is the creator and lead producer. Michael Berlin co-produces. Pianist and music director Gail Jhonson is shaping the score for both the podcast and the future stage adaptation, with an ear tuned to emotional nuance. Sound and video for upcoming episodes were recorded by Sherman Alford. Every element—sonic, emotional, artistic—has been curated with purpose.

Aronson’s journalism has been featured in AGENDA, Schmooze Jazz, and Chic Compass, where her writing consistently highlights the human stories behind artistic achievement. Berlin, a member of the Writers Guild of America since 1985, brings decades of experience as a screenwriter, professor, and psychologist. His film and television work, along with award-winning documentaries on healing and neurodivergence, demonstrate his commitment to storytelling that elevates, educates, and endures.

The podcast is not a detour. It’s an extension—of lives already spent in the service of empathy and expression. And as Aronson and Berlin prepare for upcoming episodes, and eventually the live show, one thing is clear: On the Road to Your Heart isn’t just about love. It’s about what it takes to stay there.
